Lake Texoma level politics

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Lake Texoma is a popular vacation and weekend getaway spot for many in the metropolitan area. However, this year’s lake season may be in jeopardy as the lake level continues to drop. The drought gets part of the blame, but most folks are blaming power generating, which takes water out of the lake. The current level of 608 is nearly 10 feet below normal.

At a meeting Saturday afternoon in Kingston, speakers said the level could get worse before it gets better. The generating doesn’t have to stop until it drops to 590.

Lake visitors said they want limits put on power generating during times of drought. We suspect the residents are still mad about the state park lodge being sold and torn down a few years ago in anticipation of the Pointe Vista development, which has yet to materialize.
