Why not suggest accountability of our elected officials?

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Grading has been in the news lately. The Our View of Nov. 30 “Grading Technology Centers” tweaked my imagination. Why not suggest accountability of our elected officials at the state and national level?

Here are my suggestions (others can add theirs and see what happens):

1. Attendance — a full day’s work for a full day’s pay with shortened lunch hours. Maybe summer sessions can be avoided.

2. A crash course in budgeting to understand out-go cannot exceed in-come. If they want to adjust the “tax base,” voters need to know how it will be funded when the bill is drawn. Windfalls, etc. are not included.

3. Voting record for each vote taken with bills identified by number and short description.

4. A “report” will be sent to constituents listing facts with the above information at the end of each legislative year.

It’s about accountability.
