NORMAN — If you are reading this, chances are good that the world as we know it is not ending today. The 5,125 year Mayan “long-count” calendar is ending, and some have predicted the world will end along with it.

Some countries are reporting unrest and panic buying. The Associated Press reports some small towns in Europe and Asia are hosting New-Agers looking for the portal to a new world.

In the U.S., it seems to be reason to throw a party. More than a few holiday parties have been transformed into “end of the world” bashes.

NASA has even jumped into the fray with a note on its website that the world will not end in 2012.

Throw in the fiscal cliff, and you have reason to party like there’s no tomorrow. We’ll see you Saturday.
