NORMAN — On Friday, mayoral candidate Tom Sherman reminded a business group of the importance of voting.
“Local government touches citizens more than any form of government,” he said. Well spoken.
Indeed, what happens at city hall impacts your safety, the road you travel, the sales taxes you pay, the stoplight that slows you and the library where your children check out books.
Today, three candidates are asking for your votes for a three-year term as mayor, and seven candidates are asking for votes in four City Council wards. (One Ward 3 candidate moved, but his name remains on the ballot).
Only the candidates in the wards get to decide the council members, but everyone gets to vote in the mayor’s race and the proposed increase in the hotel-motel room tax.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Results will be available at www.normantranscript.com.
