Global warming a non-proven problem

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Your Oct. 27 guest editorial asserts that global warming is “unequivocal."  You cite evidence from the U.N. Panel which met in 2007 to assess climate change. It told of some of the findings of the panel in terms of emissions, temperatures ice caps and ocean levels.

On 9/12/2013,  NASA photos of the Arctic ice cap showed that the cap had GROWN 60 percent in the past year.  No one, not even ALGORE, predicted this event. The chief meteorologist for NASA said he was stunned by the photos and immediately reviewed the photos from the Antarctic.  These photos showed that  the ice cap there had dwindled to its smallest in 1979 but has grown every decade since.  He went on to say that temperatures for the past 15 years have remained virtually unchanged.

He even raised the possibility that rather than global warming, we could be returning to an extended cold period similar to the mini-ice age of the late 1700-1800.

The data your editorial cited is now challenged by NASA photos and climatologists who point out that the 80 years temperatures have been measured and recorded on some world-wide basis, then extrapolating a prediction based on such limited data is akin to seeing a molecule and guessing what creature will result from impregnation.  Our world is 3 to 5 billion years old according to experts, so should we not try to get longer samples of data then predict?  To not do so would make a mockery of science which requires that data be substantial in terms of extent and duration.

If someone can show me any computer model, or other predictive device that can be used to duplicate the Ice Caps expansion they would be more credible in the eyes of the world’s population.  In the mean time, cease trying to fleece people using scare tactics and government extortion to fund “solutions” for non-proven problems.
