NORMAN — Those scruffy-looking men on the NBC Today Show aren’t the only ones participating in No-Shave November.
Although the NBC personalities are calling awareness to health issues, more than 100 local men are avoiding the rasors to raise money for this year’s United Way of Norman campaign.
Last year’s No Shave November raised more than $60,000. That’s a boost to the campaign’s $2.05 million goal. The men are asking for donations from friends and relatives, but strangers also can donate at the United Way of Norman website.
The campaign is in its final weeks. Relief efforts for the May tornadoes have challenged many charities, but the needs of United Way agencies go on year-round.
A victory celebration is planned Dec. 6 at the National Center for Employee Development.
