Finding shelter for pets

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — The animals separated from their owners in the May storms are getting good care now. Shelters set up at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, at the Animal Resource Center on Interstate 35 in Moore and the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter on Southeast 29th housed displaced animals.

But all good things must come to an end. The temporary shelters will close and the 200-plus remaining animals will be adopted out from 1 to 6 p.m. this weekend.

Most of the pets have owners who have visited them, but some are unable to take the animals back due to current living conditions. Either their homes are no longer liveable or they can’t find a new place that will accept pets. Either way, the pets lose.

The remaining animals will be taken to various area shelters.
