In order to protect our citizens, I think we have gotten to the point where we must not only continue to educate and warn them, but we should now take an additional step.
I think we need to do what the city of Moore and other municipalities have done, and that is to require contractors to get a city license.
To get a license in Moore, a contractor must have proof of workmen’s compensation insurance and a state contractor’s license.
They charge an annual fee of $135. All licenses expire Dec. 31. I think this will help keep our citizens safe. It is not a cure-all, but anything will help.
