NORMAN — The unemployment rate for Norman is about 4 percent while the state rate in March was 5 percent, unchanged from February.
That’s good news for local residents and another sign that the economic recovery continues. Norman has a labor force of more than 57,000 workers with about 2,500 reporting as unemployed.
That could be higher as many unemployed no longer qualify for benefits and have essentially dropped out of the job search.
We’re entering the time of year when new college and high school graduates are entering the workforce. They face better prospects in Oklahoma. The U.S. unemployment rate is 7.6 percent.
