NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
Who does Sen. Inhofe represent?
I really just can’t figure out exactly who his constituents are.
It’s not the 33.2 percent of Oklahomans that voted for President Obama, because Sen. Inhofe consistently votes against the Obama agenda. (Yes, 443,546 Oklahomans voted for Obama.) But heck, this is a red state so we just accept that the views of one-third of the state can be disregarded.
Well, what about women?
· Voted no on Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay Act;
· Voted no on Violence Against Women Act; and
· Voted no on Paycheck Fairness Act.
· Voted no on Children’s Health Insurance Program (HR2); and
· Voted no to add autism coverage on TriCare.
Unemployed? Voted no to extending unemployment benefits (S1845).
Minimum wage workers? Voted no to raising minimum wage to $10.01 (S2223).
Working poor? He opposes expanding Medicaid for 200,000 Oklahomans. For example: A family of four with income between $23,550 to $32,900 or a single person with income between $11,500 to $16,000, would be eligible.
Government workers? He voted no to fund the government for 2013 (it passed anyway).
Middle class? He voted no on the Middle Class Tax Cut Act (S3412 and it passed anyway).
I’m not sure who is left unless it is upper income men and the oil/gas industry. There’s so much more in his voting record that could fill many letters, but readers can research for themselves at the non-partisan votesmart.org.
I’m personally tired of his disregard for the needs and interests of large swaths of Oklahomans and plan to vote for whoever is running against him.
