NORMAN — U.S. Rep. Tom Cole carries a big stick in Washington. The Moore Republican formerly headed the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican National Committee. His advice is sought out by his fellow members of Congress and new Republican candidates.
He’s also a major player in Oklahoma politics. As a fifth-generation Oklahoman and a Chickasaw, Mr. Cole can play a major role in the state’s relations with the tribal governments. The water issue in southeastern Oklahoma is ripe for his mediation.
Mr. Cole is a strong supporter of the University of Oklahoma which has become more reliant on federal research dollars since state appropriations have not kept up with the university’s growth. He understands the needs of the military bases in the Fourth District.
We believe Rep. Cole’s record merits another term in office.
