A hometown illusionist

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — How often do talented artists and performers have to leave their hometown before getting noticed?

That’s the case with more than a few Norman natives.

Accomplished illusionist Rob Lake will share his show with the community at 7:30 tonight at the Nancy O’Brian Center for the Performing Arts on Stubbeman Avenue next to Norman North High School.

Mr. Lake, aka Robert Calonkey, has performed around the world.

His show tonight will benefit Second Chance Animal Shelter and Friends for Folks.

Since the May 20 tornado, shelters have been packed with displaced animals.

In many instances, pet owners are unable to take them back in temporary rental facilities.

Tonight’s show will be the first in Norman for four years. He has previously performed at the Sooner Theatre downtown, but the “mega show” will now be done in the larger O’Brian Center.
