Possibilities for Lindsey will bring out a crowd

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — The possibilities of developing West Lindsey Street between the interstate and Berry Road are engaging Norman citizens. The public dialogue seems as strong now as it was when voters approved the bond package, which included drainage improvements and widening of Lindsey.

Suffice to say city council members are getting an earful from their constituents. Some proponents of the Lindsey boulevard idea are spending much of their time explaining the various options for the roadway, which is a leading entrance to the University of Oklahoma.

One of those educational opportunities will come Tuesday. Mayor Cindy Rosenthal has proposed a public hearing at city hall. Council members have been soliciting input from various entities. A public meeting hosted earlier this summer had little opportunity for audience involvement.

We believe the opportunity to develop Lindsey Street into something more than an arterial section line road is now. The mayor and council members appear to be leaning in that direction.

Just judging by the volume of feedback, Tuesday’s hearing could be a late one. Get there early and pack a lunch.
