Letters to the editor: misinformation and comedy

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

After reading many of the “Letters  to the Editor” in the Transcript I wonder if we shouldn’t lobby for money to support continuing education.

Most letters published are full of half-truths and false information.  It would seem logical to fund continuing education especially since we have a world-class program in Norman at OU Outreach.  But then maybe we would just be arming individuals with facts to be altered to fit their emotional position.

Education is like health care.  It is a social fabric that keeps our nation strong.

It shouldn’t stop with just one “check up.”  We need to keep ourselves healthy and well informed/educated to be a responsible citizen.  An unhealthy, uneducated Nation is  prone to fail.  We could start with requiring continuing education for all public elected personnel.  Some of the information coming from their offices are “half-truths and false information.”

Or well, this is America.  We have our right to be uneducated and unhealthy and speak freely regarding issues we know very little about.  In the meantime I will continue to read the “Letters to the Editor” section instead of the comic section.  More entertaining and laughable.
