NORMAN — Norman travelers are getting used to workarounds for the Interstate 35 construction. We avoid Main Street, if possible, and are learning to exit on North Flood Avenue on the north and Lindsey Street on the south to avoid slowdowns.
But what about those highway travelers who are looking for some help reaching a destination here? Hotels, restaurants, shopping and other destinations need more than word of mouth to train customers on how to get there.
The Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau and the city of Norman are partnering for directional signage during construction. Occupancy is down a bit at hotels and motels, which collect and pass along room taxes to fund the NCVB.
They’re calling the signs temporary, but that’s probably a stretch. Highway construction, in some form, is expected for the next six years.
