Colvin to return for Bedlam after injury against K-State

NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops did not have an injury report to give at his press conference Monday. He’d literally just arrived from the airport after fog had delayed his morning flight from Dallas back to Oklahoma City. Stoops hadn’t talked to OU’s medical staff before meeting with reporters.

But cornerback Aaron Colvin, who left OU’s game against Kansas State with a shoulder injury, said he will play Saturday against Oklahoma State.

“I do feel better than the last time I might’ve talked to you guys, but you know, I still have my struggles,” Colvin said. “At the end of the day, there’s nothing I can do. I can’t complain about it. I can’t dwell over it, keep thinking about it. I’m just gonna have to fight through it and try to get this team the best chance to win.”

The status of left tackle Tyrus Thompson (ankle), left guard (Adam Shead), backup nose guard Torera Peterson (leg) and backup linebacker Jordan Evans (ankle) remains up in the air for Saturday.

Early to rise: With Bedlam game slated for an 11 a.m., kickoff, the Sooners should be in their comfort zone. It is their third straight game to kickoff before noon and fifth pre-afternoon start in 12 games. The Sooners are 4-1 in those games, with the only loss being against Texas.

With the temperature forecasted to be below 20 degrees and the early start the elements are there to somewhat temper the crowd at Pickens Stadium.

“It’ll be rocking. It’s a great atmosphere, one of the best in college football I think, for how small it is, how loud it gets. Their fans do a great job,” OU center Gabe Ikard said. “We’ll see if the guys and gals my age are able to get up for that 11 a.m. kickoff.”
