Game times announced for season opener and Tennessee games

Season opener will be pay per view

NORMAN — The Big 12 Conference just announced Oklahoma’s game against Tennessee on Sept. 13 will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.

The Oklahoma-Tennessee game is the first in a home-and-home series between the schools.

The Sooners and Volunteers haven’t met since the 1968 Orange Bowl after playing their inaugural contest in the 1939 Orange Bowl, a game that marked the first of OU’s 46 bowl appearances. OU and Tennessee will meet again in 2015 when the Sooners travel to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.

OU’s 2014 schedule begins on Aug. 30 against Louisiana Tech. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. FOX Sports Oklahoma announced Thursday it will televise that game on a pay-per-view basis. The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it wasn’t selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. A list of participating program providers offering the pay-per-view telecast and other details will be announced at a later date.
