Prepping for two QBs: Kansas State will use two quarterbacks — Daniel Sams and Jake Waters — Saturday. The biggest thing OU’s defense has to pay attention to is which is in the game. Waters is the passer, having thrown for 1,690 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Sams has thrown for 452 yards, but is Kansas State’s leading rusher with 784 yards.
The dual quarterbacks have made for a long week watching film.
“You got to know what formations both of them run and you’ve got to know what both quarterbacks are capable of doing and that’ll be the key and preparing for that through practice,” OU linebacker Eric Striker said.
A little more practice: Aaron Ripkowski’s touchdown catch against Iowa State wasn’t just the first touchdown of his career, it was his first catch.
It’s doubtful the junior will be the primary receiving option many more times, but receivers coach Jay Norvell said Ripkowski has improved as a pass catcher.
“He’s worked on it. We’ve had him there,” he said. “I probably need to spend a little extra time with him.”
