Oklahoma’s Michael Claye keeps adding to his story.

A high school graduate only last fall, he enrolled at OU in the spring before going about becoming a two-time

All-American and the nation’s best collegiate triple jumper at the NCAA Championships earlier this month. Sunday, competing at the United States Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Claye earned his second position on the Junior U.S. National Team.

Already the junior national recordholder in the event, Claye crushed the competition with a triple jump of 56 feet, 3 inches. Claye accomplished the jump on his third try and did not jump again, though he could have jumped five more times. Earlier in the competition, held over the weekend in Eugene, Ore., Clay earned a position on the junior national team in the long jump.

Next for the 18-year-old is a trip to Trinidad & Tobago for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, which will run July 31-Aug. 1
