PHOENIX — After a disappointing shutout loss to No. 7 Arizona State on Friday, the Sooners bounced back with a big win Saturday afternoon before playing again the late game.
In the first game of the day, No. 11 Oklahoma rolled to a 7-2 win over SIU-Edwardsville to move to 5-3 on the season.
The Sooners jumped out early, scoring in each of the first four innings to put the lead to 7-0. They drew a season-high 13 walks and stole eight bases in the victory, playing the “small ball” strategy that coach Patty Gasso may employ more this season after last year’s powerhouse class moved on.
Leslie Miller picked up the win, but was one of three pitchers who threw in the contest. Kelsey Stevens started the game and went three scoreless innings.
