NORMAN — Despite some snow on the ground, it was softball weather for Oklahoma on Tuesday night. The 13th-ranked Sooners hosted Louisiana Tech at Marita Hynes Field and walked away with a run-rule victory.
Fueled by two home runs from sophomore catcher Whitney Ellis, the Sooners defeated Louisiana Tech 11-3 in six innings.
It was Ellis’ first career multi-home run game, and the second one came in dramatic fashion. With OU leading 9-3 in the sixth, Georgia Casey walked to give Ellis a baserunner. When she lifted an 0-2 pitch into left she earned her first career walk-off home run. She finished the game 3-for-4 with five RBIs, also a career high.
Kelsey Stevens moved to 9-3 on the season by picking up the win in the circle, and the Sooners also got a home run from freshman Kady Self, her first career shot.
OU (14-6) returns to action at home on Friday, with a 4:30 p.m. game against Western Illinois, the first of a four-game homestand this weekend.
