NORMAN — The final Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today coaches polls were released early Tuesday morning. Oklahoma finished at No. 6 in both. For the Sooners (11-2), it was their highest end-of-the-season ranking since wrapping up the 2010 season in the same position.

The final ranking also allowed OU to accomplish a rare feat for the program. It actually finished the season ranked 10 spots higher than where it began.

The last time OU managed to do something even close to that was the 2000 national championship season.

“It feels good, but I have more to come,” OU coach Bob Stoops said last week.

Expectations will be high for the 2014 season.

The Sooners have won three previous BCS bowl games under Stoops (2000, 2002 and 2010). They started the 2003 and 2011 seasons ranked No. 1 in both major polls.
