NORMAN — The postseason awards keep rolling in for Oklahoma’s Renae Cuellar. The senior forward earned a spot on the NCAA Division I All-Central Region First Team, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Wednesday.
Cuellar led the Sooners in scoring with a team-high 12 goals and 26 points after transferring from Arizona State in the offseason. She was the first player in program history to be named Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
She’s also becomes the first member of the Oklahoma program to claim a spot on the All-Region First Team. Logan Womack earned Third Team distinction in 2001 while Lauren Maclver and Whitney Palmer garnered Second Team accolades in ‘05 and ‘09, respectively. Cuellar also earned spots on the All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 All-Newcomer Team for her efforts in 2012.
The La Puente, Calif. native’s 26 points ranks as the third-most in a single season in Oklahoma history. Her 13 points from six goals in eight Big 12 regular season matches paced the conference.
Oklahoma finished the 2012 campaign with an overall mark of 7--4 and finished fifth in the conference standings with a Big 12 record of 3-3-2 under first-year head coach Matt Potter.
