NORMAN — Oklahoma may have been forced to cancel Wednesday’s scheduled game against Louisiana-Lafayette, but the top-ranked Sooners will take the field again before the weekend.
OU (30-2) will travel to Tulsa (29-7-1) for a 4 p.m. game, a contest that will serve to get the Sooners, who have been off the field for a week, back into rhythm before opening up Big 12 play this weekend against Baylor. The Sooners haven’t played since a March 27 doubleheader at Wichita State.
OU leads the all-time series against Tulsa 36-10 and sports an 11-6 record as the visitors. They last met last season in the NCAA regional at Marita Hynes Field, where the Sooners overcame a 1-0 deficit after five innings to pull away for a 7-1 victory.
The rain that canceled Wednesday’s game is expected to lighten up enough for the Sooners to play tonight, and temperatures that had been in the 30s will warm to nearly 70 degrees for the weekend series.
