NORMAN — Oklahoma has a season-defining series with Texas Tech this weekend that could see the 12th-ranked Sooners lock up the Big 12 title. But first they had a midweek game at Arkansas to contend with.
They’ll have momentum thanks to a 10-2, five-inning victory over the Razorbacks on Wednesday.
It was OU's 20th run-rule victory of the season, and the Sooners’ 11th-straight win over a non-conference opponent. Junior Georgia Casey provided the highlight Wednesday, launching a three-run home run to cap off a six-run first inning that quickly put OU in control of the game. It was Casey’s 10th home run of the season, and she finished the game 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Javen Henson also went 2 for 2 at the plate, adding a pair of RBIs.
Kelsey Stevens earned the win for OU, improving to 29-7 on the season by allowing just two hits while striking out six.
The Sooners will host the Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
