Sooners rout Ducks

HONOLULU — The Oklahoma women may not want to make a habit out of it. On the other hand, if they’re going to can 44.2 percent of their tries, why not?

Anyway, it worked Saturday evening, as the Sooners made 17 of their program-record 38 attempts from 3-point land. That was the template for a 100-61 victory over Oregon at the Rainbow Wahine Classic, and it came a day after the Sooners shot 3 of 18 from beyond the arc in a win over Arkansas.

Now 4-1 on the season and two-for-two since arriving in Hawaii, the Sooners will finish their trip today with a 6:30 p.m. tip against event host Hawaii.

Aaryn Ellenberg led the way with a season-high 27 points, hitting 7 of 12 3-point attempts along the way. Freshman Nicole Kornet added 15 points, point guard Morgan Hook finished with 12, reserve point guard Maddie Manning added 11 and transfer forward Portia Durrett added 10.

Oregon (0-4) was hardly in the game, falling behind 55-35 by the half, though one Duck, Jillian Alleyne, turned in a memorable day, coming off the bench to grab an amazing 23 rebounds.

Nonetheless, led by Joanna McFarland’s nine rebounds, OU maintained a 62-44 edge on the boards.

The Ducks got 16 points from Amanda Delgado and 10 from Devyn Galland.
