The record-breaking run came in the fourth inning with OU on top 23-1. With the bases loaded, Erin Miller was hit in the back to bring home the final run. It broke a record the Sooners set in 2007.
“I thought the work we put in against Texas and (Longhorns pitcher Blaire) Luna last weekend helped us today,” Gasso said. “Going up against them last weekend made us better.”
The Sooners meet Iowa State (19-27, 4-9) at noon today in the second game of the series, and Gasso knows that Friday’s contest was not the norm for the Cyclones.
“They’re better than what they showed today,” she said. “I know with our crowd and our team it can be a little intimidating coming here. But this is not indicative of who they are, and we have to respect that.”
