Shinn at 3 p.m.: Sooners need to take care of business, Stoops says

NORMAN — Oklahoma doesn't have a game this week, but the loss to Kansas State showed it has a lot to work on before facing Texas Tech on Oct. 6.

What's tops the list of priorities?

"The one pretty simple one is take care of the football," OU coach Bob Stoops said Monday morning on the Big 12 football coaches teleconference. "When you give up a 14-point swing, it's nearly impossible to win other than being perfect. That's the one issue."

Quarterbacks were responsible for all three turnovers in the Sooners' 24-19 loss to Kansas State.

Landry Jones was stripped on a sack that resulted in a Kansas State touchdown and also threw an interception. Backup quarterback Blake Bell fumbled away a potential touchdown when he dropped a snap with OU on the Kansas State 1-yard line.

Another issue has been creating turnovers. OU's defense has only forced one in three games.

"Whether it's stripping the football or getting more pressure on the quarterback we have to force some bad plays," Stoops said.
