NORMAN — Oklahoma shooting guard Aaryn Ellenberg was the lone Sooner named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Team on Wednesday by the conference’s coaches.
Ellenberg, OU’s returning leading scorer at 15.5 points per game, joins Brittney Griner and Odyssey Sims of Baylor, Iowa State’s Chelsea Poppens and Kansas’ Angel Goodrich on the team
Griner, the reigning national player of the year for the reigning national champion Bears, was named preseason player of the year.
Though she wasn’t named to the five-player team, Sooner guard Whitney Hand, who averaged 13.3 points and 7.1 rebounds, was an honorable mention selection.
The Sooners bring back all five starters and reigning Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Sharane Campbell into a season that begins at Creighton Nov. 10.
OU begins the exhibition portion of its schedule Nov. 1 against Oklahoma Christian at Lloyd Noble Center.
