OU plummets in polls, BCS standings

NORMAN — The after effects of Oklahoma’s loss to Baylor came Sunday with a plummet in the polls and the BCS standings.

The Sooners (7-2, 4-2 Big 12) plummeted eight spots in the BCS standings to No. 18.

The fall in the USA Today coaches poll, which is a component in the BCS standings was nine spots to No. 17.

OU dipped 10 spots in the Associated Press Top 25 to No. 22. It marks its lowest ranking of the season in that poll. The previous low spot was No. 18 after its loss to Texas on Oct. 12.

The Sooners face unranked Iowa State (1-8, 0-6) at 11 a.m. Saturday in the home finale. It will hit the road to face Kansas State and No. 12 Oklahoma State in the final two regular-season games.

The Big 12 currently has four teams in the BCS standings. The Bears moved up a spot to No. 5 Sunday. The Cowboys rose two spots to No. 12. Texas jumped into the BCS standings for the first time this season, appearing at No. 24 Sunday.
