  • Reynolds remains winner in recount; Hearing Monday on voting irregularities
Both candidates in the state Senate District 43 recount picked up votes Wednesday but the outcome in Cleveland and Oklahoma counties did not change.
State Sen. Jim Reynolds, the incumbent, received 6,467 votes in Cleveland County and challenger David Boren received 4,540.

  • UPDATED:Senate race outcome doesn't change
Sen. Jim Reynolds wins in county; Oklahoma County still re-counting ballots.

  • Hansen to discuss presidential election and other politics
    Hansen to discuss presidential election
Dr. Glenn Hansen, director of the University of Oklahoma Political Communications Center, will be the featured speaker at the Tyner Cornbread -- Beans luncheon Friday at StepBrothers restaurant, 423 S.

  • 71 percent vote in Cleveland County
It wasn't a record, but it was historic.
As county election board officials worked Wednesday to finalize numbers from Tuesday's vote, one thing is certain: Social and politically the 2008 presidential election was historic, but vote-wise it probably was just a good turnout.

  • UPDATED: Nations, Collins, Martin, Terrill keep House seats
Incumbents led the field in local races for the state House of Representatives, with Reps. Bill Nations, Wallace Collins, Scott Martin and Randy Terrill retaining their seats.
Also, Republican Jonathan Nichols won re-election to State Senate District 15.

  • UPDATED: Lester takes sheriff's race
There's a new sheriff in town -- as Cleveland County voters overwhelmingly elected Joe Lester over Rick Adkins in Tuesday's general elections, 59,432 votes to 39,212 with 99 percent of precincts reporting by press time.

  • Nichols, Laster win re-election
Jonathan Nichols once again will represent State Senate District 15.
Nichols, R-Norman, was elected to a third term Tuesday evening. He defeated Diane Drum, D-Norman, for the seat.
With 100 percent of precincts counted, Nichols won with 23,119 votes.

  • Never too young too vote
The voting line stretched from the far northeast classroom all the way down the hall to the office inside Wilson Elementary Tuesday morning.
There were no adults lined up to cast their votes, but instead plenty of children ready to voice their opinions in the school's mock presidential election.

  • Terrill leads Green
Embattled state Rep. Randy Terrill was reelected to his District 53 seat Tuesday, winning despite a recent judgment that he fraudulently lent himself money from a previous campaign that he should have declared as an asset during bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Martin wins handily
Incumbent state Rep. Scott Martin said he never took anything for granted in his race for reelection to the District 46 legislative seat.
"It was extremely humbling as we knocked doors," the Norman Republican said at a GOP watch party Tuesday at Coach's restaurant.

  • Local voters caught up in historic election
Just after filling out her ballot Tuesday morning, a Norman woman took a fall and hit her head on the ground at Precinct 11, Grace Church of the Nazarene. She had to be taken to the hospital, but before she was carried away, she assured the Norman firefighters that her ballot was complete.

  • OU students: don't ignore the youth vote
As the results of Pennsylvania and Ohio flashed up on the big screen, the room erupted in cheers and whoops.
This wasn't the Democratic party headquarters on election night, it was the OU Votes watch party at the Oklahoma Memorial Union at the University of Oklahoma.
