Hansen to discuss presidential election
?Dr. Glenn Hansen, director of the University of Oklahoma Political Communications Center, will be the featured speaker at the Tyner Cornbread -- Beans luncheon Friday at StepBrothers?restaurant, 423 S. Webster Ave. His presentation?will be titled "Toward an Understanding?of the Content of the 2008 Presidential Election."
Hansen is also?a member of the department of communications faculty where he teaches courses in political communication, mass media effects and research methods. His research focuses on?candidate issue knowledge, biased processing of news and mass media influence. He holds a doctorate from the University of Missouri.
Sponsored by the Cleveland County Democrats, the luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. with the speaker beginning about noon. Cornbread and beans are available for $5 including tea and gratuity. Guests also may order from the menu. The meeting is open to the public.

Boren, Switzer to present Hall of Fame candidates
Norman residents David Boren and Barry Switzer will present Charles Stephenson and Donna Nigh, respectively, for induction into the 81st Oklahoma Hall of Fame Wednesday at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
The award is the highest honor an individual can receive from the state. Stephenson and Nigh will be joined by five other honorees: Bill W. Burgess, Lawton; Robert Henry, Shawnee; Ronald Norick, Oklahoma City; Carl R. Renfro, Ponca City, and Jordan J.N. Tang, Edmond.

Alexander to speak to GOP women
Chad Alexander, former chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party, will speak to the Republican Luncheon Club at Coach's restaurant at 11:30 Tuesday Nov 11. He will talk about the impact of election results in Oklahoma and elsewhere.? Also appearing will be newly elected Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy and other newly elected Republicans. The public is invited to attend. The $12 admission price includes lunch at Coach's.
