LUBBOCK, TEXAS —
Buddy Hield scored 18 points and Cameron Clark added 17 to lead No. 25 Oklahoma to a 74-65 victory over Texas Tech Saturday at United Spirit Arena.
The Sooners improved to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12 Conference. The Red Raiders dropped to 10-10 and 2-5.
The victory was OU’s third on the road in four tries in conference play. The oddity of this one was it never trailed at any point in the game.
Point guard Jordan Woodard scored 15 points with 11 coming in the first half. His effort helped the Sooners build a 38-29 halftime lead.
Texas Tech, which picked up 14 points apiece from Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert, cut its deficit to four points with 6:27 to go. But a 3-pointer from Hield and an alley-oop dunk that turned into a three-point play by Clark pushed the Sooners’ lead back up and helped ignite an 18-13 run to close the game.
