While putting together a depth chart for Oklahoma’s defense (and it’s strictly a guess), you get a strong sense of what defensive coordinator Mike Stoops covets in the secondary.
Every team wants to have great athletes, but Stoops has also placed a premium on height and length.
There’s a very good chance the Sooners won’t have a defensive back in their base, nickel or dime packages that is shorter than 6-feet tall.
The prototype for what OU wants its secondary to look like appears to be 6-foot-2, 198-pound sophomore cornerback Cortez Johnson and 6-2, 190-pound junior safety Julian Wilson.
Both look like they could easily be guards on the Sooners’ basketball team.
