Pre-registration for the 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk is going on now, and is $25, which includes a t-shirt for the first 250 registrants. Registration on October 20 or later is $35. Registration for children age 12 and

The Monster Dash 5K is a USATF event, with 2013 certification pending. The course map is also available on the Junior League of Norman website.

"We are really excited about all the changes to Monster Dash this year. We are hoping the new time and location will encourage people to participate,” said Lara Streight, Monster Dash Chair.

In addition to the 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk, there will be arts and crafts for the kids, as well as other fun activities for the whole family. The goal of Monster Dash is to provide the community with a healthy way to celebrate Halloween, while also raising money to support Junior League of Norman's programs, including Baby Steps, the Junior League of Norman’s program to help teen parents complete their high school education, and Food for Kids which provides food for middle school students in need.

Children and adults are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. There will be a judging contest with prizes for best children's costume, best adult costume, and best group costume. The awards and costume contest will be at 3 p.m.

“Not only are we looking forward to all the adorable kids’ costumes but this year we are anticipating some really creative adult and group costumes since we will have some exciting prizes. Check out our Facebook page to get updates about the prizes and information about the race," said Streight.

Reaves Park is located at Jenkins Avenue and Constitution St. in Norman. For more information, visit the website or email Streight at larastreight@mac.com.
