LAWTON (AP) — An inmate charged in connection with the stabbing death of another inmate at a Lawton prison has pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault and battery charge.

Authorities accused 23-year-old Darren Padron of attacking 25-year-old Sonny Limpy in June 2012. The Lawton Constitution reports that Padron was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday in Comanche County District Court.

Authorities say the killing appeared to be gang-related. Inmate Armando Luna has been charged with first-degree murder, while several other inmates face lesser charges. Padron was accused of beating and kicking Limpy during the attack.

Prosecutors say Limpy was dragged under a stairwell at the prison and stabbed repeatedly. He was pushed into a prison cell, where he later died.
