The Norman Transcript
On Tuesday at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Norman Police Department was notified of a vehicle that had been stolen in the area of SW 19th and Santa Fe in Moore.
The vehicle, a black Chevrolet pickup, headed southbound on Santa Fe. It was followed closely by a dark colored SUV, driven by a second suspect. At 5:30 a.m., a Norman Police unit spotted the two vehicles heading south on 48th Avenue NW.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicles in the area of Robinson Street and 48th Avenue NW. The black pickup drove into a residential neighborhood in an attempt to elude officers. The driver abandoned the pickup in the area of Davinbrook Drive and Pinon Court and fled on foot. The dark colored SUV fled north on 48th to Tecumseh Road and east to I-35 and then south on I-35 with Norman Police units in pursuit.
The SUV continued south, exiting I-35 at SH9 West in Newcastle. The SUV then collided with a civilian vehicle in the intersection of SH9 and continued south. The SUV drove into a field east of Riverwind Casino. The vehicle stopped and officers were able to take the female driver into custody.
It was discovered that the SUV was stolen out of Oklahoma City. The male suspect driving the pickup is still outstanding. There were no injuries in the collision with the civilian vehicle. There are no suspect identifications available at this time.
The pursuit and collision are still being investigated by Norman Police Department and Newcastle Police Department.
