NORMAN — An Oklahoma City man remained in critical condition Thursday after a one-vehicle wreck in Norman early on New Year’s Day.

Steven Ferguson was the sole occupant of a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup when the vehicle wrecked shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Tecumseh Road and the I-35 northbound off ramp.

Ferguson was transported from the scene by EMSStat in critical condition. Dennis Gimmel, OU Medical Center public relations officer, confirmed Thursday Ferguson remained in critical condition at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation of the incident indicated the pickup was traveling on the I-35 off ramp to Tecumseh Road when for an unknown reason it continued through the intersection, crossing Tecumseh Road, hitting the curb causing the vehicle to become air borne and landing south of the intersection.

No other vehicles were involved in the event.

Norman police and fire departments as well as EMSStat responded to the scene. The collision is under investigation by the Norman and OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team.
