Buddy Hield scored 22 points and Je’lon Hornbeak hit four critical free throws in the final minute to lift Oklahoma to a 77-74 victory over Oklahoma State Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The victory lifted the Sooners to 19-7 overall and 8-5 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cowboys sank to 16-9 and 4-8 after their sixth straight loss.
The Sooners trailed by eight points with 11 minutes remaining but closed the gap in the final minutes.
Hield, who connected on 5 of 13 3-point attempts, hit one to tie the game with just inside two minutes remaining and gave the Sooners the lead for good with his final 3-pointer with 66 seconds left.
Ryan Spangler added 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Sooners. Frank Booker came off the bench to add 15 points.
Markel Brown scored a game-high 23 points for the Cowboys. However, his desperation 3-pointer at the final buzzer bounced off the left side of the rim.
The win gave OU its first regular-season sweep of its in-state rival since 2009.
