OKLAHOMA CITY —
Will Rogers World Airport is unveiling a new exhibit of colorful artwork by the noted sculptor Dale Chihuly.
The colorful glass is on loan from the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has one of the largest collections of Chihuly work in the world. A museum spokesman tells The Journal Record that museum officials proposed the exhibit to the airport mostly for beautification, though they’re hopeful travelers will consider a visit to the museum after seeing the artwork.
The pieces on display at the airport are insured with the rest of the museum’s collection. Officials say the permit for display space at Will Rogers lasts through 2015.
Born in Washington, Chihuly has work included in more than 200 museum collections around the world.
