NORMAN — Oklahoma guard Isaiah Cousins was arrested by Norman Police early Saturday morning on complaints of public intoxication and interference with the official process.
According to Sgt. Jennifer Newell of the Norman Police Department, an officer patrolling the Campus Corner district witnessed Cousins, 19, in an argument with an unidentified man outside Sugars night club some time around 2 a.m.
The officer separated the two, Newell said, when Cousins began to walk away. The officer asked Cousins to stop, but the OU basketball player ran away. Cousins was found hiding in a bush.
Newell said the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol and red, watery eyes and slurred speech from Cousins. He was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center at 2:35 a.m.
Cousins averaged 2.7 points in 32 games as a freshman last season. He started 14 times at the point guard spot, sharing the position with senior Sam Grooms.
