NORMAN — Cleveland County District 2 Commissioner Darry Stacy said storm debris removal in eastern Cleveland County is progressing as scheduled. Because of the extensive damage caused by the recent tornados Cleveland County crews and private contractors have been working seven days a week 12 hours a day. The debris removal contractor, TFR, is nearing completion of the first pass-through. The second and final pass-through will begin on July 15.

Area residents are asked to move remaining storm debris to within 10 feet of the roadside by July 15 for collection. When placing debris at the roadside, residents are reminded not to put debris in the street, allow it to protrude into the street or obstruct a driveway. It is importnat that debris does not impair visibility for drivers or pedetrians.

Stacy said that the recent tornados were a historic event and the amount of debris has been extensive.

“We hope all of our residents and businesses will be patient as we work through these extraordinary circumstances,” he said. “Your efforts will be a significant contribution to the County.”

Residents with questions may call the Cleveland County Commissioner’s Office at (405) 366-0200.
