NORMAN — A vehicle was struck about 10:20 a.m. today on the railroad crossing at Lexington Avenue. The man driving had exited the vehicle before the train struck it. There were no injuries.
Norman Police Capt. Tom Easley said the elderly driver tried to clear the intersection before the slow-moving, northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train. The driver was able to exit the vehicle before the train struck it. There were no injuries. The tracks were still closed at 11:15 a.m. while investigators completed their work at the scene.
