NORMAN — The Islamic Society of Norman hosted an open house today with the theme “Building the Bridges of Understanding,” teaching the basic elements of Islam and answering questions from community members.
Nouman Jan, Vice President of the ISN, said they wanted to open their doors to the community and help residents understand what Islam is all about, especially as they observe Ramadan.
While many may just see Ramadan as a time of fasting, Jan said there is much more to it than that, including obtaining spirituality. Jan said they also want the community to feel welcome to come into the facility to worship, meditate or even just talk to someone if they are needing help.
“We’re a house of God,” he said. “Our doors are open to everyone.”
