Also during Teacher Appreciation Month, the museum will offer family memberships to teachers at a discounted cost of $35 from $45. Additionally, members receive Tracks, the museum newsletter, as well as discounts at Excavations, the museum store, and on educational programs and birthday parties.
Sam Noble Museum offers a wide range of innovative educational programs, exhibits and experiences that inspire learners of all ages to understand the natural and cultural world. Visitors can enjoy two new exhibits at the museum. Beginning Saturday, “Masterworks of Native American Art: Selections from the Fred and Enid Brown Collection” will feature works from the Native American fine arts movement of the 20th century, reflecting a recent chapter in a long history of artistic expression by the indigenous people of North America. Opening Oct. 19 and sponsored by the OU Division of Student Affairs and Sooner Parents, “The Art of Sport + Play” tells a story about the universal power of sport. The free, public opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 18.
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is located on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus at Timberdell Road and Chautauqua Avenue. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and up, and $3 for youth ages 6 to 17. Children ages five and under are admitted free.
