NORMAN — On Wednesday, the contractor will repair the sidewalk ramps on the southwest corner of 12th Avenue Northeast and Robinson Street.
The outside southbound lane of 12th Avenue will be temporarily closed during the day to allow for construction equipment into the roadway. The lane closure will begin after 9 a.m. and should be reopened before 4 p.m.
The eastbound Robinson right turn only lane onto southbound 12th Avenue NE also will be closed at the same time. This lane will remain closed until Friday night to protect the concrete from similar damage while it cures.
The Robinson Street and 12th Avenue Intersection Project is a $2.2 million street improvement project. When complete, the intersection will be widened to provide dual left turn lanes for northbound and southbound traffic, an exclusive right turn lane for eastbound traffic and a reconstructed east leg of the intersection, with new sidewalks along the north side of Robinson Street.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is administering the construction of the project on behalf of Norman. The prime contractor is Markwell Paving Company of Oklahoma City.
