NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ
Sunday, Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will continue the “Encounters with Jesus” sermon series with the lesson “From Heartless to Helper.”
Concord Missionary Baptist Church
“Faith In Work or Work Of Faith?” is the theme for the morning worship this Sunday. Pastor Clark will study Romans 4:4-5 as the text. The evening worship will continue the study of Ephesians from 5:22-24,33 on the subject, “The Position Of Submission In Relationships.”
Sunday will conclude the series on “Ordinary.”
Sunday’s sermon is “The Joy Genome, Week 2,” From 2 Philippians.
Faith Pointe Baptist Church
Sunday, Pastor Gann will preach “Dominated or Controlled,” from Romans 8:5-8.
First Baptist Church
Sunday morning, the congregation will begin focusing on international missions with the sermon series “Beautiful Feet.” Dr. Wade Smith will bring the sermon “Announcing Peace” during the classic and LifeSong services.
First Christian Church
Sunday’s sermon is titled “Not Far From the Kingdom” based on Ruth 1:1-18 and Mark 12:28-34 with the Rev. David Spain preaching at both morning services.
First Presbyterian Church
Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon titled “What to Remember at the Table” based on 1 Corinthians 11:23-33. Communion will be administered at both services.
Grace Presbyterian Church
Sunday morning, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from John 6:22-40, “The Bread of Life (Part 2.)” Sunday evening, Dole will preach from 1 Peter 1:22-2:3, “Love From A Pure Heart (Part 2.)”
McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church
Sunday will conclude the sermon series “Made to Make a Difference.” The Rev. Linda Harker (sanctuary services) and the Rev. Randy Wade (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach “A Great Cloud of Witnesses,” from Hebrews 12: 1-2.
Memorial Presbyterian Church
Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “For All the Saints.” The congregation will celebrate All Saints Day and the Lord’s Supper.
Sunday, Dr. Mitch Randall will bring the message “Love Triumphs,” from Mark 12:28-34. The congregation will welcome Cheryl Tarter for her first Sunday as the new music minister. The choir will sing “Love Triumphs,” arranged by C.J. Adams. At 6 p.m. on Sunday and Nov. 11, there will be a Confero service.
St. Stephen’s United
Sunday, the Rev. Amy Venable’s sermon will be “Only Love Matches the Claims of God,” from Mark 12:28-34. Holy Communion will be served at both services.
South Canadian Valley Church of Christ
Sunday, Craig Hayes will conclude a series on the “Seven Last Statements of Christ from the Cross.” His topic will be “Hope — Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”
Trinity Baptist Church
Sunday, Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers speaks on “Day of Decision” in the morning worship.
Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)
For All Saints Sunday and Celebration Stewardship Day, the guest preacher will be the Rev. Marvin Henschel who was the pastor at Trinity from 1964-1972. Bells will be tolled for all the congregation members who passed away this past year. Pledges will be gathered for the church’s work in 2013. The celebration banquet will be at noon with a lasagna lunch, music and videos.
United Church of Norman — UCC
John Brunna, counselor, educator and spiritual teacher will deliver Sunday’s sermon. Brunna was a Buddhist monk for six years before returning to become the director of the Way of Compassion Foundation. He is in the city conducting a workshop on “Emotional Mindfulness.”
University Christian Church
Sunday, Dr. James Taylor will speak on the series “Joshua: From Defeat to Victory” titled “Caleb’s Special Inheritance,” from Joshua 14:6-15. Sunday is Blood Pressure Sunday where anyone can receive free screenings. Sunday evening, the congregation will have a worship/prayer service concerning Election Tuesday.
University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)
Former Missionary to Tanzania, Pastor Herb Hafermann, will preside at services on All Saints Sunday.
Victory Church of Norman
Senior Pastor Fred Sellers plans to preach a brief sermon and then oversee the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper at the afternoon service on Sunday.
West Wind Unitarian Universalist Congregation
Sunday, Kurt Bachmann will present “Finding Peace and Spirituality on the Camino de Santiago, reflections on life learned while traveling in Spain.”
