Conference set

NORMAN — Following a diocesan-sponsored national conference on violence, “Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace,” the Episcopal Church Women of St. John’s Norman will host an Oklahoma diocesan-wide women’s conference and Bishop’s day on April 25-26.

The Rev. Dwight Helt, rector of St. John’s, will welcome The Rt. Rev. Edward Konieczny, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma and The Very Rev. Justin Lindstrom, dean of St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Oklahoma City.

As the conference’s keynote speaker, Lindstrom’s address will feature the conference theme “Lift Up Your Hearts — A Celebration of Our Common Ministries.”

Other distinguished speakers include The Rev. Tim and The Rev. Kirsten Baer who will share about their ministry as co-vicars of Grace Church in Yukon; and the Rev. Joshua Blake Woods, St. Anselm of Canterbury Association at the University of Oklahoma and the Rev. Tim Sean Youmans, Casady School and St. Crispin’s Conference Center and Camp will highlight on some of the programs for the youth in the Diocese of Oklahoma.

Workshop options include presentations of “St. John’s-Its Architectural History and Early Relationship with the City of Norman and the University of Oklahoma,” by Professor Robert Goins; “Charitable Gift Annuities,” by Jerry Smith; “Cursillo-Make a Friend, Be a Friend,” by Dr. Gil Haas; “Honoring Our Saints with Care and Joy,” by Helt; and “The Way of Light” guided by Dr. Kathleen Haynes and Kathryn Kiester. Attendees also will have an opportunity to visit OU’s Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History.
