LDS church to host general conference

OKLAHOMA CITY — Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a semiannual worldwide conference on Saturday and Sunday.

The 182nd Semiannual General Conference, originating from church headquarters in Salt Lake City, is comprised of a series of two-hour meetings over two days that feature speeches from church leaders on a variety of spiritual topics.

General sessions, open to everyone, will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. mountain daylight time on Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Live broadcasts are streamed to more than 7,400 church buildings in 102 countries, and are simultaneously interpreted into 92 languages. For a list of local meetinghouses, visit

Church leaders, such as President Thomas S. Monson, his counselors in the First Presidency as well as other leaders, select their own subject matter for talks that vary in length from five to 20 minutes. Subjects include basic gospel principles or significant issues of the day.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and organist, as well as other church choirs and the present congregation, will provide gospel-themed music for the conference sessions in the 21,000-seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
