NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ

Sunday, Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will complete the “Dear Church…” sermon series with the lesson “Letter to Laodicea.” The sermon text comes from Revelation 3:14-22.

Brookhaven Baptist Church

Sunday will be a sermon titled “I Love It When a Plan Comes Together” with Jim Hoipkemeir.

CrossPointe Church

Sunday will continue the series titled “Stuck.”

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Sunday, Pastor Gann will preach “No Power Over Me,” from John 19:6-15.

First Baptist Church

Sunday will continue the sermon series “Question Marks” with the sermon “What Shall I Do With Jesus?” Dr. Wade Smith will bring the sermon in classic worship as the Rev. Roy Joe Ham brings the sermon in LifeSong worship.

First Christian Church

Sunday is Palm Sunday with the sermon titled “Reframing” based on Luke 19:28-40 with the Rev. David Spain preaching at both morning services. The children will participate in the procession of palms at both services and the Logos Choir will sing at the 10:45 service.

First Presbyterian Church

On Palm Passion Sunday, Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon titled “A Death Wish?” based on Mark 10:32-34 at both morning services. The final session of the Lenten study meets at 5 p.m. in the parlor.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from John 12:10-50, “The Hour Has Come. “Sunday evening, Dole will preach from 1 Peter 5:8-14, “A Call to Vigilance.”

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the first Sunday of Great Lent, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, in Tone 1 Eothinon 9. The gospel reading for Orthros is from St. John 20:19-31. The epistle reading for Divine Liturgy is St. Paul’s to the Hebrews 11:24-26 and 32-40. The gospel reading for Divine Liturgy is from St. John 1:44-52.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

Sunday will continue the Lenten sermon series “Crossroads.” The Rev. Linda Harker (Sanctuary services) and the Rev. Randy Wade (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach a sermon titled “The Lonely Road” with scripture from Luke 22:39-46. 

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “On the Way to the Cross” based on Luke 19:28-40. 

Robinson Street Baptist Church

Pastor Bill Blair will deliver a sermon titled “The Burial of Christ.” Sunday evening, the congregation will observe the Lord’s Supper.

St. Stephen’s United

Methodist Church

The Rev. Amy Venable’s Palm Sunday Sermon will be “Joining the Parade of the Faithful” and is based on Luke 19:28-40.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, Mark Woody’s sermon will be the fourth of a four-part series on “Judging,” with the topic “Judging Righteous Judgment.”

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for Palm Sunday — the Sunday of the Passion — will be “Hosanna and Crucify,” from Mark 11 and Luke 23.

United Church of Norman — UCC

The Rev. Warren Jensen will deliver the Palm Sunday message titled “Palm Sunday and Jesus’ Teachings on Faith and Trust.” The Scripture reading will come from Luke 19: 28 - 40. 

University Christian Church

Pastor Dr. James Taylor will continue the series “Lessons From Solomon” titled “A Lesson About Virtue,” from Proverbs 31:10-31.

University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

A procession into church waving palms precedes both services this Palm Sunday commemorating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to begin Holy Week. In his sermon based on Luke 22, Pr. Joe Summerville elaborates on how boundless is the love of God who sent Jesus to suffer for the human race.

Victory Church of Norman

Senior Pastor Fred Sellers plans to lead a team-preaching service by the three associate pastors (Ice, Wheeler and McDowe) at the afternoon service this Sunday.

West Wind Unitarian Universalist Congregation

Roberto Mendoza will presents “Native Culture and It’s Relevance to New Liberation Struggles Worldwide.”

Westwood Baptist Church

Sunday will include guest speaker Bro. Greg Taylor who will bring the message as well as music with his guitar. Pastor Scott Liner will return on Easter Sunday.

Wildwood Community Church

Teaching Pastor, Bruce A. Hess, will be speaking on “Making Right Choices,” Part 2, from 2 Timothy.
